3 Key Benefits to Mindful Personal Training

I often get asked, “Why should personal training require mindfulness?” This is always a fantastic question to ask and today, I'd like to answer it with 3 of its main benefits.

1. Mindfulness helps you maintain excellent form. By performing every single rep mindfully, you are making sure to only use the right muscle groups, which improves the quality of your workout. Not only that, but you will also mindfully maintain the correct posture which also prevents injury.

2. Mindfulness focuses the mind. Many times, when we exercise, we are habitually doing the reps without really paying attention. Our mind is elsewhere, scattered and distracted, either thinking about dinner, or going out with friends, or maybe even stressing about work. By being mindful of our workout, we can focus our mind on the present moment, preventing distractive, negative, and unproductive thoughts.

3. Mindfulness means listening to your body and respecting your limits. Only when we're truly mindful can we know whether we should keep pushing or if we need to rest. Mindfulness focuses our attention inwards as opposed to only being focused on external goals likes appearances, results, and stats. By listening to our bodies, we are demonstrating self-love.
